In the film 'Stand By Me', the most important theme is the idea of coming of age. This film is about four boys on an adventure and takes the audience on a journey to find a dead body. As we are introduced to each boys' life and their transition into maturity, we realise that these boys are no longer children. Chris is becoming more mature and he is beginning to feel he is slowly drifting away from the negative influence of his family. We see this in the film, when Chris steals the class milk money, but on reflection realises this was a very bad choice. When he tries to give it back, he is still seen as a thief and just as bad as his alcoholic father and delinquent brother. No matter how hard he tries to be good, society still sees him as a bad influence.
Characterisation:
This means how we find out about characters. This could be from the narrator, character themselves, or other characters.
